For many families, gathering information about the schools in our city can be confusing and overwhelming. Students can apply to their local neighborhood school, signature schools, charter schools and private or parochial schools. In fact, the average kindergartner living within the KC Public Schools’ boundaries has more than 30 kindergarten options!
Nearly two years ago, a group of KC parents with school-aged children conceived the idea for the nonprofit, Show Me KC Schools. The organization’s website www.showmekcschools.org features comprehensive information about every K-12 school within the KCPS boundaries, including hours, mission statements, demographics, test results, application processes, transportation information, number of school days, tuition and a map. In addition to the website, the nonprofit organizes multiple programs intended to help families navigate our many school options and understand current education issues through school fairs, school tours and an education speaker series.
Please visit the website to learn about the many school options available and join the email list or Facebook to get updates about the latest programs to help KC families find the right school for their children in the heart of our city.
