Kansas City neighborhood shopping is flourishing, and the newest addition to that list is Brookside East. Nestled on the east side of Oak Street, between 63rd Street and 62nd Terrace, 6 small businesses are individually revitalizing the area.
A long-time business on this block, The Clock Shop, 6207 Oak, offers 5 generations of knowledge of clocks. They focus attention on antique clock repairs, sales and consignment. Joining the block are five new tenants. Brookside Betty’s, 6215 Oak, shares the same love of “vintage.” Stop in to find retro dresses designed for all shapes and sizes. Season + Square, 6205 Oak, adds flavor to any favorite meal with over 100 spices to mix and match. (Their new restaurant, Plate, will be opening shortly next door.) Itsy Bitsy Bums , 6215 Oak, puts a new spin on the cloth diaper, offering a variety of colors and designs that make the “old” very “new” again. Lampateur, 6209 Oak, has a beautiful collection of vintage, retro and modern lighting displays. Brookside Guitars, 6217 Oak, has a wonderful goal to keep music alive by passing down knowledge and inspiration through guitar lessons, and selling an array of guitars and accessories.
Watching this area grow in the past couple of years has truly been exciting. Each business has made this area shine. Take a stroll, stop in for a visit. We are honored to award them June’s Southtown Sparkle Award!
